It's that time of year! The time where our children are about to go back to school and we just can't wait! If you are anything like me, you will surely miss all those times spent with your kids arguing and your kids being bored. Yeah right.
This is the time that you reflect on how old your kids are and what grades they will be attending and wonder where the time has gone. I know I do.
To remember this important time in their lives, we like to take our kids' photo on the first day of school. Here are some important tips to remember on the momentous day.
Make it quick
Kids want one thing on the first day of school and that is they want to see their friends that they have missed. Most kids understand that you will want to remember this day with photos so just make it quick. Have a plan for when and where you are going to take photos and tell your kids the plan. That way there are no surprises and nobody is getting angry when you are trying to interrupt their morning.
Do it the day before
Now while I know this sounds totally silly and most people won't have that opportunity, try and go in the day before school starts. The pressure is off of you to make a quick photo and then the school will be empty so you will have less distractions in the photo itself. This will also give you a chance to show your child their classroom and get them acclimated to the new routes they will be having while at school on the first day. Double bonus!
Don't forget your camera
This one may seem obvious. But if you are like me and you want to take a photo with your "big expensive camera" then don't forget to place it by your purse the night before so you don't forget it. With all the hustle and bustle on the first morning of school, it is super common to make this mistake. The other important thing to remember is that you don't need your "good" camera to do the work. Don't lug it around if you don't want to! Your camera from your phone will be just fine. Plus, its easier to share those moments with family and friends by request if the picture is already on your phone.
Just remember to have fun and hug your kids. This will be the last day they start this grade at this age and you won't want to forget a moment of it. It all goes by way too fast.
