My everyday: walking with the dogs | Placerville-Family-Photos

As a family, we love going on "walks". But, as a family, we usually don't have that much free time. Let alone, free time with the actual family! So, on this particular day we enjoyed a nice walk with each other and the dogs. We had to switch dogs every now and then as we are trying to train them on leashes. Being hounds, they are super stubborn so it's not as easy as you would think. We are used to labradors and even though...

My life: everyday

Every day I think to myself, how can I possibly keep up with it all? I mean, there is always so much to do and so much to see. Owning your own business is clearly the best thing and the worst thing all at the same time. Today I am writing with a heavy heart. No one will understand (other than other small business owners) how much work goes into your own business. But in the end it's all worth it because you get to make your own schedule and you are the one that gets to choose who to work with and why. You get to design our business the way you want. The long term benefits outweigh the short term pitfalls. You are never...

The fine art of letting your kids fail | Placerville-Children-Photographer

I don't usually get too personal on my blog. I will be happy to talk about my life experiences, my triumphs and my failures but I rarely go into depth on anything more. Today, I want to though, so bear with me. For those of you that don't know me or my family personally you may not know that this last year my husband and I chose to take our son, who is 10 now, out of traditional school. And by "WE" I mean "I". Ha. My husband is clearly a part of the decision process but not clearly apart of the actual decision making itself. He means well, but he knew that he wouldn't be the one having to do the actual schooling so he kind of left that decision up to me. Before I made the jump to homeschooling my son I had a lot to take into consideration. My son has ADHD and he is one of those typical kids that is very impulsive, very defiant in his behaviors and also very sweet and apologetic at the same time. He always has an excuse...

Science Project Saturday | Placerville-Children-Photographer

A couple of weekends ago, I had decided that we should do something fun. We didn't have anything planned, the weather was great and there was nothing stopping us. One mention of something fun to my kids and I didn't hear the last of it. All they wanted was for me to be done with what I was doing so they could start. On today's list was a science project! I am in love with my new Usborne book 365 Science Activities. Tons of projects with everyday household items that you most likely have. If you don't then they are very cost efficient. No doubt. In fact, any book by Usborne is a  winner in my opinion. But I digress...back to the science...

My everyday: Armstrong Redwoods continued | Placerville-Children-Photographer

Continuing the awesome story of our trip to the Armstrong Redwoods, we had so much fun on the last day. We had a mild walk planned with another docent to talk about the Redwood trees and  how they grow. We got to discover some really neat things about they each tree is born and how they are usually not grown by seeds but from other trees! I also learned that the big the clover looking plants are not clover- they are called Sorrel and they make these really pretty purple flowers and they hate the sun! You learn something new every day and I am all for...

My everyday: Camping in the Armstrong Redwoods | Placerville-children-Photographer

Well I think this will be my last trip for a while. I secretly hope it's not but I have to say that going on all these trips is truly exhausting! I love every minute of it. Don't ever let me convince you otherwise. This blog is another round of my 10 on 10 with some very wonderful ladies. I do have one small confession to make though-there are more than 10 photos. I could not help myself on this particular day! I Take a look...

My Everyday: Continued | Placerville Lifestyle Photographer

Enjoy yourself. These are the good old days you are going to miss in years to come. ~Unknown

So unbelievably I am still trying really hard to complete my 365 project. Ya know- where I take a photo every day for a year? Well, let's just say that I am a few days behind but I am not sweating it. The coolest thing about it is that I am not sweating it actually. According to my previous post about starting the 365 project, I am right on schedule! I am trying my best and I am not giving up. I think I am about ten days behind. But actually I am not behind. I am right on track. I am doing what I love when I can find the time. I am trying to find moments in my daily life I would not have had otherwise shared had it not been for pictures. It doesn't matter to me if you understand the photo nor does it matter to me if you care about the subject. What matters to me is that it is a memory in my life that can never be taken away and it cannot be replaced. Some may leave me with happy feelings and others with sad feelings, all of which are ok. These feelings are my little secret. Only those that know me well may know some of these feelings without asking. I know this to be true- I am enjoying every minute of this life I am leading. Whether or not I show it daily, I am loving my life. My crazy busy schedule shows that I am trying to live it to its full potential and I want to remember these "good old days" for years to come. I want to hand these memories to my kids and say that we did that once. We went there once and we loved it. Can you say that to your kids? Are your memories fleeting glimpses of your actual memory? Don't let that happen to you!
